James A. Mavec, MD

Mavec_James.jpgDr. James Mavec received his undergraduate degree from Creighton University in 1985. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1989. He completed his residency at the University of Kansas Department of Medicine and his fellowship at the University of Kansas Division of Gastroenterology in 1994.

He joined Gastrointestinal Associates in 1994.

Jeffrey L. Young, MD

Young_Jeffrey.jpgDr. Jeffrey Young received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas Medical School in 1989. He then completed a third-year residency in internal medicine at Evanston Hospital at Northern University in 1992. He served as Chief Resident of Internal Medicine at Evanston Hospital. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 1995.

He joined Gastrointestinal Associates in 1995.

Randal L. Brown, MD

Brown_Randal.jpgDr. Randal Brown received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1992. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center and completed a fellowship in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 1999.

He joined Gastrointestinal Associates in 1999.

Jon Christopher Nichols, MD

nichols.jpgDr. Jon Christopher Nichols received his undergraduate degree from Marymount College in 1983. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1987. He was a Resident in the Department of Medicine at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was Chief Resident at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and then a Fellow at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine Division of Gastroenterology in Rochester, Minnesota.

He joined Gastrointestinal Associates in 2001.

Christian C. McElhinney, MD

McElhinney_Christian.jpgDr. Christian McElhinney received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1995. He completed a year of general surgery at Creighton University School of Medicine followed by a year as a Research Resident at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, Dickson-Diveley Midwest Orthopaedic Clinic. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2000 and his gastroenterology fellowship in 2003.

He has been with Gastrointestinal Associates since 2003.

  

Donald J. Martin, MD

Dr. Donald J. Martin is a Kansas City native.  He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his medical degree from Creighton University. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Wright-Patterson Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Martin achieved the rank of Major and served four years overseas in the Medical Corps of the United States Air Force. He completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. He joined Gastrointestinal Associates in 2016.

Scott Robert Holmes, DO

Dr. Holmes received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. He received his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience. His Internal Medicine Residency and his Geriatric and Gastroenterology Fellowships were completed at Saint Louis University and Saint Louis University Medical Center.
Dr. Holmes is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

James E. Allen, MD

Dr James Allen

Dr. James E. Allen is a native of Prairie Village, Kansas. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas in 2011 with a BA in Biochemistry and Spanish. He graduated from KU School of Medicine in 2015 where he stayed on to complete his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship. Dr. Allen has published extensively in Barrett’s esophagus and advanced endoscopic imaging modalities. He enjoys helping patients overcome GI related illness and preventing GI cancers through timely screening.

R. Andrew Sutton, DO

Dr. Andrew Sutton received his undergraduate degree from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Organismal Biology in 2010.  He completed medical school in 2015 at Rocky Vista University in Colorado.  He graduated from Internal Medicine residency at Cleveland Clinic before beginning Gastroenterology fellowship at Kansas University Medical Center.  Dr. Sutton completed an additional year at KU Medical Center in Advanced Endoscopy and is able to perform endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and ERCP procedures.  He enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, as well as gardening.

Kelci Gillenwater, APRN

Gillenwater_Kelci.jpgKelci Gillenwater holds degrees from Baker University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Who’s Who Among American Universities and Colleges Award.  She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas School of Nursing in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program.  Kelci has experience as an Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse as well as Surgery Center Charge Nurse.  Kelci has also cared for patients as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Pain Medicine , Acute Care and Primary Care.  Kelci  joined Gastrointestinal Associates in 2015.

Celeste McGlamery, MSN, APRN

McGlamery_CelesteCeleste McGlamery holds degrees from Baker University School of Nursing where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, as well as her Master of Science in Nursing in the specialty of Family Nurse Practitioner from Fort Hays State University. 

Celeste has experience as a Cardiac Care Nurse as well as significant Gastroenterology training with Gastrointestinal Associates where she joined in July of 2017.

Michelle Fernandez, APRN

Fernandez_MichelleMichelle Fernandez holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Nursing School of Mid-America Nazarene University, as well as a Master's of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is licensed in both Missouri and Kansas as a Registered Nurse and as an Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse, APRN.

Michelle has extensive experience in the specialty of Gastroenterology dating from 1998 to currently, when she joined Gastrointestinal Associates in August of 2017. 

Jessica Taylor, PA

Taylor_JesseJessica Taylor, PA received her undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude from Saint Louis University in 2006. She received her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant in 2009 from Arcadia University.

She joined Philadelphia Gastroenterology Consultants in 2009 and joined Gastrointestinal Associates in 2011.
